Tuhi is my last name, and it means “to write, draw or record” in the Maori language, and so was a fitting name to celebrate both my culture and love for storytelling.
In hindsight, it seems like I was always destined to capture other’s stories. There is a photograph of me as a child holding my parents instant camera, and my Dad was convinced that I’d be a photographer one day. My career officially began when my Dad bought me a camera for my birthday confirming what my own history had been telling me all along. He couldn’t have been more right.
My second love is travel. I try to take every opportunity to see as much of the world as possible. I have lived in Durban, South Africa and Auckland, New Zealand and now I am making the move to the UK. I love meeting couples from all over the world. I love hearing their love story and embracing their culture and traditions. Photography has allowed me the privilege of doing what I love all over the world. I wouldn’t change a thing.
